User Class Codes

User Class Codes can be setup to accommodate your organization’s need to group units in ways that are not already defined in M5.

Five user-defined code tables have been provided. They are broken up by Class Type (1-5). Each type can be used to create hundreds of different codes.

These are user-defined codes, so it is up to the user to determine how the codes are to be entered and used in a way that will best suit the organization’s needs.

User Class Codes are not required to be entered on the Unit table, however using System Flags 1181-1185, you can make them mandatory on unit entries. See the System Flags section below for more information.

Create

To create a new User Class Code, select one of the five Class Types from the drop down to load the Code list for that Class Type.

In the blank code field, type in a new code. This field has a limit of 14 alphanumeric characters. Next, type in a description for the code. This field has a limit of 40 characters.

Once you have completed the entry, click the Save button. The new code will now be available for use on Unit Main entries.

Modify

You can modify the description for existing codes. You will not be able to change the code once it has been created and saved.

To enter a new description, click in the Description field and type a new description over the old one. Click the Save button and the record will be updated to reflect the change.

Disable

To disable a User Class Code, check the Disabled Flag box in the row of the code you want to disable. Click the Save button and the code will no longer be available for use.

Delete

You can delete a code provided it is not in use anywhere in the system. Otherwise you will not be able to delete the User Class Code.

To delete a code, click in the row of the code you want to delete to make it active. Click the Delete button (Red X) at the top of the frame. The selected row will turn red. Click Save.

The User Class Code will be removed from the list and will no longer be available for use or exist anywhere in the system.
